Why an Orthodontist in Lynchburg? Orthodontist vs. Dentist
An orthodontist is a dentist, but a dentist is not an orthodontist. Not every dentist is qualified to be an orthodontist, even though every orthodontist starts as a dentist. Like all orthodontists, Dr. Baugher and Dr. Claiborne continued their education for 2 or 3 additional years before receiving the license and certification.
Why does it matter if you see your Lynchburg Orthodontist?
Dentists receive basic orthodontic training to perform root canals, extract wisdom teeth, and treat young children who need not see an orthodontist yet. Specialists receive additional training to give them the skills required to deal with more complex orthodontic issues.
Seeing a specialist like a Lynchburg orthodontist may change your braces experience by:
- Providing more treatment options, with a variety of braces or therapies to choose from
- Having personal experience treating multiple cases similar to your unique concerns and anatomical characteristics.
- More efficient treatment and visits because it’s the office’s primary focus.
- Knowing that you’ll receive the best outcome on your treatment plan, especially if you have worse than usual bite discrepancies that need to be treated
You may think it’s fine to have your orthodontic work by your dentist, but convenience shouldn’t be a barrier to seeing a specialist. You’ll only need to stop by Lynchburg orthodontic offices every six to eight weeks.
And don’t let price be a problem either! Central Virginia Orthodontics is proud to provide affordable treatment in the Lynchburg area.
Lynchburg Braces
One of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have is traditional braces. We attach the metal or ceramic brackets to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. These components will gradually move the teeth into the desired position through regular adjustments with our doctors as they work together to apply gentle pressure. Lynchburg braces are an excellent choice for correcting several simple and complex tooth issues.
Lynchburg Invisalign
Rather than brackets and bands, the Lynchburg Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to move the teeth into alignment gradually. Invisalign is the top alternative to traditional braces and is a popular choice with both patients and orthodontists.
